As revealed through Denny O’Neil’s script and Dick Dillin’s art, Jean was driven mad by the JImbreen, a subatomic race that believed she had descended from their earth – born queen. The Atom (Palmer) shrank himself and Hawkman to confront the aliens, only for both to become slaves of the new Queen Jean. Eventually the heroes freed Jean from the aliens grasp, but her sanity would not be restored until “Justice League of America #81, (June 1970).
